ONIC PH continued their push for an upper bracket slot in the MPL PH Season 15 playoffs with a high-stakes match against Smart Omega during Week 8 Day 2. With Omega already eliminated from the playoff race, they had nothing to lose — and that made them a dangerous opponent for ONIC, who were still in the hunt for postseason positioning.
Game 1
ONIC PH opened the series strong with a decent early game lead, dictating the tempo and maintaining control of the map. However, Smart Omega had other plans. In a surprising turn of events, OMG executed several unexpected team fight victories that slowly tipped the balance in their favor. Capitalizing on their momentum, Omega stunned the audience by pulling off the unthinkable and taking Game 1, sending a clear message that they weren’t going down quietly.
Game 2
Game 2 saw ONIC maintaining a better grip on objectives, but Omega kept up the pressure, refusing to let them snowball. For most of the game, the match remained evenly paced — until a crucial moment at the 15-minute mark. ONIC made a bold and risky play that paid off, eliminating four OMG players in a single team fight. This gave ONIC the breathing room they needed to press their advantage, push into the base, and end the game, forcing a third and final match.
Game 3
The decider was the most intense match of the series, filled with high-stakes team fights, drawn-out Lord dances, and nail-biting base races. Both teams traded blows in the late game, and despite ONIC having a map advantage and Omega being down to an exposed base, the match remained deadlocked with each side fending off near losses. The breakthrough came during the final Lord contest, where KingKong secured the objective for ONIC. That one moment was the turning point — with the Lord and momentum on their side, ONIC finally broke through and completed the reverse sweep.
With this victory, ONIC PH keeps their upper bracket dreams alive while Smart Omega exits the tournament season with their heads held high after pushing one of the league’s top teams to the limit.
