MPL PH: Team Liquid PH Sweep TNC Pro Team to Close Out Opening Week

The final series of MPL PH Season 16 Week 1 featured TNC Pro Team (TNC) going head-to-head with defending champions Team Liquid PH (TLPH). Many expected the Cavaliers to breeze through the matchup, but TNC came ready to challenge the champs. Despite showing flashes of brilliance and nearly forcing a Game 3, the Phoenix Army ultimately fell short as TLPH held their ground and secured a 2-0 sweep to close out the opening week.

Game 1:
TLPH opened strong, but TNC proved to be no pushovers, finding ways to close the gap each time the Cavaliers built a lead. Still, the reigning champs steadily tightened their grip on the game, waiting for the right moment to strike. That moment came with a decisive wipeout, where KarlTzy’s stellar performance shined through. With an impressive 8/0/6 KDA, he spearheaded TLPH’s final push, sealing Game 1 in their favor.

Game 2:
The second game turned into an intense tug-of-war, with TNC keeping pace throughout. Ch4knu’s setups created openings that allowed Bennyqt to snowball on his Granger, racking up 7 kills by the 21-minute mark. With resources and map control leaning their way, TNC looked poised to force a decider. In a bold move, they split their efforts—sending Bennyqt for a backdoor push while the rest contested Lord. For a moment, it seemed the gamble might pay off. However, Sanji quickly recalled to base, shutting down Bennyqt’s attempt. With TNC’s remaining members wiped out at the Lord pit, TLPH countered immediately, storming into the base for a game-ending push.

With the sweep, Team Liquid PH closed Week 1 with one series win, showing once again why they remain the league’s top dogs. As for TNC, the series was a painful reminder of how thin the line between victory and defeat can be, but also proof that they have the tools to challenge even the strongest teams this season.
