Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) is set to make its return to the 2026 Esports World Cup (EWC), following a historic run that saw it crowned as the most-watched title of this year’s event.
According to data from Esports Charts, MLBB accounted for more than a quarter of total EWC viewership, recording over 50.32 million hours watched, a milestone that firmly establishes the game as one of the world’s leading esports titles.
A Record Year for MLBB Esports
The MLBB Mid Season Cup (MSC) and MLBB Women’s Invitational (MWI) both shattered previous EWC viewership records. The MSC became the most-watched tournament in EWC history, peaking at 3.06 million concurrent viewers. This year’s edition also featured 16 participating regions, marking its largest and most diverse lineup to date.

Meanwhile, the MWI achieved 468,976 peak concurrent viewers, making it the most-watched women’s tournament in the event’s history and placing it among the top five most-viewed women’s esports tournaments worldwide. Since its debut in 2022, the MWI has continued to empower female players by providing a global stage to showcase their competitive talent and leadership in the esports scene.
“We’re excited that MLBB will be one of the featured titles at EWC 26,” said Tiger Xu, Global Head of MLBB Esports at MOONTON Games. “Being part of the EWC lineup once again is a testament to MLBB’s growing popularity and influence in global esports. Our partnership with the Esports World Cup Foundation goes beyond hosting tournaments-it’s about shaping the industry, promoting sustainability, and setting the standard for esports excellence.”
Esports as a Catalyst for Youth Empowerment
Beyond competition, MLBB has become a driving force in youth engagement and digital development. During EWC 25, government representatives from Malaysia and the Philippines emphasized how MLBB’s success has contributed to national esports growth and skill development.
YB Adam Adli, Malaysia’s Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, noted that MLBB has been incorporated into youth programs to nurture future talent in gaming, broadcasting, and coaching. Likewise, Atty. Erose Marlo C. Laeno, Chief Legal Officer at the Games and Amusements Board (GAB) Philippines, highlighted that MLBB’s rise has helped esports gain professional recognition in the country.
Through its collaboration with governments and organizations around the world, MOONTON Games continues to foster a sustainable and inclusive esports ecosystem—one that not only entertains but also empowers communities.
Looking Ahead: M7 World Championship
Following its success at EWC 25, MLBB is gearing up for its next major milestone, the M7 World Championship (M7), scheduled for January 2026 in Jakarta, Indonesia. The upcoming tournament will feature 22 of the world’s best teams, marking the largest edition in MLBB history.
As MLBB Esports prepares to take center stage once more, MOONTON Games’ commitment to innovation, inclusivity, and community continues to drive its legacy forward, proving that esports can be both a global spectacle and a force for positive change.
