The final series of MPL PH Season 16 Week 1 Day 2 featured ONIC PH (ONIC) facing Team Liquid PH (TLPH). Both teams came in eager to make a strong opening statement for their season, but it was ONIC who completely took control of the series. Behind stellar performances and near-flawless objective control, the Hedgehogs secured a clean 2-0 sweep to cap off the day’s matches.
Game 1:
From the opening minutes, ONIC dictated the pace of Game 1, with Kelra’s Bruno snowballing out of control. His explosive damage output became an unsolvable problem for TLPH, who struggled to contest objectives against ONIC’s powerful backline. Desperate to stay in the game, TLPH scrambled for scraps of resources, but a devastating team fight at the 13-minute mark sealed their fate. ONIC pulled off a full team wipe and wasted no time marching straight to the base for the opening win.
Game 2:
Game 2 started much more evenly, with both teams trading kills and keeping the scoreboard close. However, ONIC quietly built a lead through superior objective control, consistently securing Lords and buffs to give themselves more resources. That advantage snowballed into a dominant late-game push. At the 19-minute mark, TLPH faltered in a critical team fight, losing three members and handing ONIC the opportunity to end the game. With that, ONIC closed out the series with a convincing 2-0 sweep.
ONIC PH’s strong showing highlights their ability to control both tempo and map presence, making them an early team to watch this season. Meanwhile, Team Liquid PH will need to regroup and refine their approach if they hope to bounce back in the coming weeks.
